Line strikes of existing underground utilities and the accompanying interruption of utility service can have health, safety and economic impacts for municipalities, utility owners, contractors, developers and others. Adopting universal ‘Underground Utility Protection Policies’ will reduce the likelihood of line strikes and the resulting interruption of service, potential loss of life and property, inconvenience and associated costs.
