The Center for Underground Infrastructure Research & Education (CUIRE)
is presenting four specialty courses for the underground utilities construction & rehabilitation industry. Public officials, engineers, utility company personnel, designers, utility owners and operators and contractors who are involved with constructing, renewing and managing utilities will benefit from these schools, conducted by CUIRE board members and expert industry leaders. The schools include:

Trenchless Technology Construction Methods (Water; Sewer; Gas; Road & Railroad Crossings; Joint Utility Network and Cable Applications)*
This course presents an overview of new installation technologies, planning, design and construction concepts, contracts, specifications and inspection issues, application assessment, geotechnical and site investigations, QA/QC, alternative project delivery methods, new equipment and methods and case studies. Technologies to be explored include microtunneling and pilot tube microtunneling, pipe jacking, utility tunneling, auger boring, horizontal directional drilling and pipe ramming.
 
Trenchless Technology Pipe Lining, Renewal & Replacement Methods (Sanitary & Storm Sewers; Water Pipe Distributions; Gas Transmission and Distributions; Culvert and Drainage Structures)*
An overview of different pipeline renewal and replacement technologies, including planning, design and construction concepts, contracts, specifications and renewal inspection issues, application assessment, alternative project delivery methods, old and new pipe site investigations, QA/QC, new equipment and methods and case studies will be presented. Technologies to be covered include CIPP, structural coatings (SIPP), close-fit, sliplining and modified sliplining and pipe bursting.


Advanced Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) School (Pressure, Gravity and Cable Applications; Water, Oil and Gas Pipes; Road, Railroad and River Crossings)*
This course presents planning, contract and specifications, alternative project delivery methods, bore planning and layout, pipe load calculations, safety issues, steering and accuracy, gravity pipe applications, site and geotechnical investigation requirements, inspection and QA/QC, drilling fluids, tracking and locating and new technologies.

Pipeline Design and Construction Using Open-Cut (Water and Sewer Applications)*
This course presents planning, contract and specifications, alternative project delivery methods, pipe load calculations, different pipe materials, site and geotechnical investigation requirements, inspection and QA/QC.
 
Each attendee will receive:

·         1.4 CEUs and 14 PDHs.

No-Risk Registration: If you cannot attend the school, you may send a substitute. The cancellation policy is: 100% refund if cancelled by Jan. 3, 2011, 50% refund if cancelled by Jan. 10, 2011. No refunds accepted after Jan. 11. Certificate & Professional Development Hours: These schools qualify for 14 Professional Development Hours (PDH) of continuing education credit. A PDH certificate indicating inspector training will be awarded at the conclusion of the school. The wallet-size certificate will be mailed shortly after completion of the school.
